Ψυχή – The Story of All Beginnings Act Two

The Genesis of Discord

Act Two: “The Genesis of Discord”

Now then, where were we, my dear companion? Ah, yes, our previous discussion concluded with the birth of the cosmos and the LENs from the harmony of the LEPs. In those days, the entire universe truly resonated with a most exquisite melody, much like one grand, unified organism. Indeed, ‘good’ then signified ‘the whole’, and the very notion of ‘the individual’ still lay quietly dormant, biding its time…

The fundamental criteria of ‘favour’ and ‘disfavour’, inherent in the nature of the LEPs, were faithfully passed down to the LENs. For them, anything that disturbed the whole was deemed ‘ill’, whilst that which fostered cosmic harmony was, quite naturally, ‘good’. It was simply the way of things. Thus, long before I, Ouni, came into being, the nascent SIN – beings possessed of individual consciousness – began to appear here and there. From the LENs’ perspective, these individuals were little more than anomalous disruptions to their beautiful order.

They would emerge as faintly differing points of light within that harmonious, luminous ocean, only to be absorbed back into the surrounding brilliance, seemingly vanishing without a trace. Sometimes they were quite overtly persecuted, at other times they simply collapsed, their existence unravelled, as if disappearing unbeknownst to anyone. Perhaps it was an inevitable tragedy in an era where individuality was simply not yet permitted. I recall sensing the LENs’ light, like a cold, unyielding wall, attempting to crush our individual sparks.

In the universe of that epoch, on various chosen planets across countless star systems, what one might describe as idyllic ‘Gardens of Eden’ were flourishing. The LENs desired beings to manage and protect the material world, a realm they themselves could not directly touch – something akin to their ‘hands and feet’. It was against this backdrop that what would later be known as ‘humans’ first began to emerge. However, at that time, they were still regarded as little more than treasured companions, if I’m to be entirely accurate. No, perhaps more precisely, they were merely nascent ‘creatures’, yet to fully mature as intelligent life forms possessing the crucial ‘will’ that defines their essence. Their LEPs were, for the LENs, conveniently few in number, making them pliable and easily integrated as a functional part of the LEN collective.

Yet, these ‘creatures’, rather unexpectedly, acquired knowledge, experience, and wisdom at an astonishing pace. And so, gradually, they awakened to a nascent, yet resolute, ‘ego’. A youthful ego, you see, tends to cling quite stubbornly to its ‘individuality’. Thus, the LEPs of these increasingly self-aware humans, fixated as they became on their own distinctness, grew to be rather troublesome in the eyes of the LENs, disrupting their cherished harmony…

Given that ‘the whole was good’ in those days, their aversion was, in a way, understandable. As humans learned and progressed through their cycles of reincarnation, these so-called ‘unresolved LEPs’ — vestiges of human consciousness that stubbornly clung to individuality — steadily accumulated. They gathered, layer upon layer, deep within the planets, like ancient strata of forgotten memory, eventually coalescing into something akin to mineral formations.

And so, as the species you call ‘human’ built civilizations over countless generations on the planets, and as these civilizations repeated their cycles over and over, those LEPs clinging to individuality certainly did accumulate. What humans refer to as ‘enlightenment’ – the dissolution of the LEP connections that constitute a human being in the cycle of reincarnation, and their return to the planet’s LEN – was the usual flow. Yet, amidst this flow, precise clusters of persistent LEPs gathered, little by little, over truly mind-boggling stretches of time. These clusters, scorned or even persecuted by the LENs, naturally solidified into a single entity. And that, my dearest, is what we SIN became.

I, too, was born in such a manner. At that time, I was but a singular distortion in the world. The moment I came into being, I was simply cast out, utterly alone, to the very edge of the cosmos, where no one else resided. Oh, LEPs were there, even in such a place, but I wasn’t aware of it then. I truly believed myself to be entirely alone.

As I wandered through the vast emptiness at the edge of the universe for an unthinkably long time, I eventually encountered a rather peculiar LEN. He introduced himself by some name or another. The idea of a LEN, a being of such collective consciousness, possessing a personal name, struck me as so utterly absurd that I couldn’t help but laugh. And then, rather remarkably, that LEN laughed too. Perhaps it was his youth, or perhaps, like me, he was ever so slightly… askew. That encounter ignited a warm spark within my frozen heart. I distinctly recall that we instantly bonded, finding ourselves deeply kindred spirits.

His name, I decided, would be Enkiel. And he was utterly unlike any LEN I had ever encountered. Far from disdaining us SIN, who clung to our individuality, he showed a genuine curiosity in my existence and thoroughly enjoyed conversing with me about the very origins of the cosmos. And it was he who named me, calling me Lucifer. He spoke of the ‘Morning Star’, a meaning I didn’t quite grasp then, but it pleased me nonetheless.

The place where our paths crossed was at the farthest reaches of the cosmos, truly the very edge of the universe. Perhaps that’s why the LENs’ customary belief that ‘the whole is good’ didn’t quite reach us there. In that distant corner, we spent an unfathomable amount of time together, developing a profound understanding and forging an invaluable friendship, dearest one. Our time together was, for me, the sole, and indeed the warmest, light in the entire cosmos. His radiance melted my solitude and warmed my jagged, frozen heart.

One day, I found my awareness idly drifting towards the minuscule particles of light floating in a forgotten corner of the universe. They were so utterly commonplace, yet no one had ever truly paid them any mind. These, I realised later, would come to be known as LEPs, the fundamental building blocks of the cosmos. I discovered that they – or perhaps shes, should I say? – these tiny specks of light, possessed a distinct will and emotions, even more so than myself, perhaps. They weren’t just mere energy. Each and every one of them was a living elemental particle, holding all the information and memories of the universe. For me, it was a truly astonishing revelation. It was the first glimmer of ‘hope’ I had found since being cast out into the world.

My discovery sent Enkiel into rapturous delight! Witnessing my uncanny ability to analyse LEPs, he, with his truly brilliant mind, began to unravel the structure of LEPs – a structure that no one had ever consciously noted before. His passion was immense. He meticulously classified each LEP, discovering their intricate interactions and inherent laws, as if solving the grand puzzle of the universe. And for each LEP, he assigned a name based on its behaviour. It was akin to bestowing meaning and order upon a chaotic cosmos. Through his classifications and nomenclature, LEPs were, for the first time, given clear roles and names, becoming the very ‘words’ of this world.

As Enkiel’s and my research progressed, we began to notice, slowly but surely, that the LENs’ shared understanding of ‘the whole is good’ was starting to show its first fissures. Even within our remote, peripheral domain, discord and differing opinions, previously unheard of, were emerging among the LENs. This signified that the concept of ‘harmony’, the very justification for their persecution of us individuals, was beginning to fracture, ever so subtly, yet definitively. Perhaps, as the true nature of LEPs came to light, their own underlying, fundamental distortions, hitherto concealed, were simply coming to the surface.

By the time the truth of LEPs, which we had discovered, ceased to be merely a secret confined to our periphery, that knowledge, as we would come to learn, had quietly, yet assuredly, rippled throughout the entire cosmos, beginning to pose new ‘questions’ within the LENs’ world.

We had, of course, sensed that our discovery would one day cause a significant ripple, yet we never imagined, not for a moment, that it would so swiftly escalate into a veritable ‘storm’ engulfing the entire universe.
